South America’s largest container operator, Santos Brasil is a public held company listed in the Novo Mercado corporate governance level of B3, which offers to its customers complete logistics solutions, from Door to Port with presence in three Brazilian ports. The Company stands out as a result of its responsible management which brings together operational and financial high performance with environmental preservation and social responsibility. This model has guaranteed continuous and sustainable growth.
The Company started activities in 1997 to take part in the auction for the lease of the Tecon Santos container terminal. Ever since it took over the operations of this container terminal, which is the largest in Brazil, it has invested c. R$4.8 billion (amount adjusted by IGP-M inflation) in acquisitions, diversification of activities, improvements and new equipment.
The Company has the on-going objective of offering the most sophisticated and efficient port logistics service and strives to be one of the successful companies of the sector. Over the years, it has consolidated its leadership position, constantly anticipating market demands backed up by a strong brand, which is recognized as a benchmark in quality, safety and productivity.
As such, and with the firm belief that its terminals offer great potential, it is responsible for c. 20% of import and export containers handled in Brazil and, according to the Drewry Shipping Consultants, c. 7% of the containers handled in South America and the Caribbean.
Presently, the Company operates five port terminals strategically located and operates in the following business areas:
Container and General Cargo Terminals
Port operations with a quay and backyard for container handling. The Company operates three container terminals – Tecon Santos (Santos-SP), Tecon Imbituba (Imbituba-SC) and Tecon Vila do Conde (Barcarena-PA ) – and one general cargo terminal – TCG Imbituba (Imbituba-SC);
By using synergies and complementarity between businesses, Santos Brasil Logistica offers sophisticated and customized logistics services in addition to the port services offered to its clients, including port operations, bonded warehousing, transport and distribution – Port to Door. The Company’s logistics structure includes two Customs Industrial Logistics Centers (CLIA Santos and CLIA Guarujá) and a Distribution Center in São Bernardo do Campo (SP), in addition to its own truck fleet. This structure aims to offer Taylor-made logistics services to importers and exporters, attending specific demands in various segments (chemical, automotive, pharmaceutical, food, auto parts and consumer goods).
Vehicles Terminal (TEV)
The vehicles terminal operation includes quay and warehousing operations for the handling of light and heavy vehicles and machines. TEV is located in an area adjacent to Tecon Santos (Santos-SP), serving the largest automotive assemblers in the country, operating import and export of vehicles.
