Environment

Supporting environmental conservation is our responsibility, which is why we are constantly improving our environmental management standards by monitoring and controlling our units’ greenhouse gas emissions, water consumption and solid waste generation.

Our operations are rigorously controlled, complying with all laws and regulations, and are audited and certified by the main international standardization and certification bodies.

Social

Santos Brasil structures and supports social inclusion initiatives that are selected by the Company with the objective of broadening opportunities for access to education, culture, and sports, and for the promotion of citizenship and local development.

Currently, Santos Brasil supports 41 projects through incentive laws that benefit around nine thousand people living near the operational units.

Formare Program

In partnership with the Iochpe Foundation, Santos Brasil maintains the Formare Program, which offers a course of Administrative Assistant in the Port Area for young people in a socio-economic vulnerability situation, which is acknowledged by the Ministry of Labour and Employment.

Since 2009, over 271 young people have graduated from the program and entered the job market in ports and logistics. Of this total, 103 students were hired by Santos Brasil to act in different sectors.

 

I’m a Volunteer

Through this program, we encourage employees to donate their time and talent to volunteering projects and actions developed and supported by the Company.

Currently, we have 170 employees  engaged in initiatives that follow the guidelines of our Volunteering Manual, which was developed with focus on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The program helps employees to transform ideas into actions, stimulating solidarity with the local community.

Zero Accident

Investing in human development and protecting the health and safety of our stakeholders are key pillars of Santos Brasil. To ensure a safe and healthy workplace for both employees and partners, the Company invests in training programs focused on quality of life, improvement of working conditions and accident prevention.

As a result of its Zero Accident Campaign, launched in 2019, the Company has reduced by 71% both the number of lost-time accidents and the severity rate, while also setting safety records at all of its business units. In 2021, a new phase of the campaign was launched that included the participation of employees’ children to raise awareness and promote prevention.

Corporate Governance

Corporate Governance is one of the key pillars that direct and guide the business strategy of Santos Brasil. We are continuously strengthening our culture of transparency with stakeholders by incorporating the best instruments and practices for impact assessment and accountability. Since 2016, our stocks have been listed on the Novo Mercado segment of B3, which is a great source of pride and reinforces our commitment to ethical and responsible management.
The Company also has a Compliance Committee that works proactively to implement and execute best practices in Corporate Governance. We rigorously follow the information disclosure and securities trading policy based on the standards established by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Brazil (CVM).

We are constantly developing and enhancing policies and mechanisms to facilitate decision-making at all levels of the Company and to guide the conduct of each of our employees based on our vision and values.
